Good Life’s Daydream Drift on River Styx
Born August 6th, 2011
River is the daughter of Willow and Bastii. For more info on this litter, go to our D Litter page.
When our D litter was born, all the pups had a home. Due to some unforeseen complications, and one attention-demanding puppy, we made a decision that River was not right for the home. However, what to do? We had no intentions of keeping a pup from this litter, we had a couple of wonderful co-owners, but then we said the magic words…. “why don’t we just keep her?” And from there on, it was a done deal. River wasn’t leaving the home she was birthed in.
River was an active puppy, inquisitive and sweet. She began work as a therapy dog around 4 months of age, mirroring her mother’s gentle temperament. She was fabulous. Despite her active nature, her puppyhood was without incident, and she was reliably sleeping out of her crate at 5 months old. We used to say River ruined us for other puppies because she was so, so good.
When River was one year old (to the day!) our E litter was born. Even though Willow was the dam of that litter, River was adamant that she be involved in the rearing of the pups. By 5 weeks old, River was spending more time with the babies than Willow. We expect River to be fantastic as a mamma dog.
At two years old, River completed her health testing, which can be found here. River is an athletic adult with a personality that has earned her the nickname ‘snuggle-berger’. River is an ideal therapy dog whose most pleasing activity is to lean heavily on someone and close her eyes in delight as she is petted. River is a good size girl, at 112 lbs, between 27-28 inches at the withers, a gorgeous head, and dark chocolate eyes.
River has not been shown much, but has earned two 5 point majors in a very short time. One of those majors also landed her a Best of Breed over multiple champions and grand champions of both genders.
