“Willow”

Willow is the first champion out of Good Life kennel, and is of our A litter. Willow is a sweet girl, she loves a good walk and playing with our terrier mix. She endears herself daily to us, from the time she spends plunked down on our laps, to her ability to quickly pick up anything we'll the spend the time to teach. She is the official Squirrel Watcher, and protects us heartily from any rodent-like threat that may enter our yard, though she has learned to respect the cats who share her home.

As an adult now, Willow has great attributes both of her mother and her father. During the rearing of our B litter, Willow showed her maternal instinct, even though the pups weren't her own. She is a morning dog, the first and most happy girl first thing in the morning. She loves to leap up on our bed and give us kisses while wagging her tail as if to say, "Good morning! Isn't it a wonderful day?"

Further, Willow has passed her OFA examination with Good rating for hips, normal for elbows, thyroid normal, and CERF normal. She has not been shown extensively, but has been very succesful when shown.

Willow is the #1 Leonberger in the United Kennel Club for 2009.

“Aja”

Aja is our first Leo. When we met our first Leos, we had no intentions of showing dogs - but, like so many people before us, we became addicted. And so, Aja got to learn along with Nick what it was to be a show dog. She currently has three championship titles to her name (LCA, UKC, and Rare Heirs) and finished #4 in the country in 2005 in the United Kennel Club. Aja is enjoying a well deserved retirement from her show career.

Aja's Vital Stats: BACL rated Category I, Excellent by the Leonberger Club of America. 28.5 inches at the shoulders, and 130 lbs. All Aja's heath testing is available online at www.offa.org. Her hips were rated Excellent, her elbows Normal, her eyes were cleared and CERF'ed, her thryoid Normal, and her cardiac testing Normal as well.

Some judges comments on Aja Marie over the years: "Good size, strong female. Very nice coat and color. Excellent chest. Movement is free and balanced. Good bone fore and aft. Nice length of neck, fits well into the shoulders." And every judge commented on Aja's great Leo temperament (it would be redundant to put it all here!) And as a final testament to Aja's confirmation type, Guido Peresino (who literally wrote the book on Leonbergers) judged Aja with his highest rating at the GLLC Regional Specialty in Temple Farms, IL in 2006 - Excellent.

“Eros”

Eros, our second Leo, has a nickname, "Sweet boy." This truly says it all. Eros has a temperament that is laid back, but he is very sensitive, and so tries to please us whenever he can (unfortunately, this has involved quite a bit of "trial and error" on his part) Eros has also attained his UKC championship, and at 17 months was only one major away from his LCA championship. He has a bit of a sense of humor which tends to come out in the ring (usually at my expense), but he is happiest in our swimming pool in the backyard, dog paddling away. There may be water rescue training in his future.
