Dear Zuzu, Simba, Ely, Ozzie, Piper, Rikka, &Sadie – May you have long wonderful and happy lives in your new homes!
All of our Lucky Seven “C” Litter are now in their homes. It is simultaneously sweet and sad for us. We know these babies have amazing homes, but we will miss them so much!
All our C litter is now spoken for . . . going to wonderful homes!
As of today, only one female and one male puppy are still in need of happy homes from our C litter. So far, these pups are going to wonderful families who can’t wait to meet their new family member.
If you can provide a great home for one of these special puppies, please visit the Contact & Links page of our site.
Willow’s litter was born today! All healthy, mama and babies – 4 girls, 3 boys!
Congratulations to Good Life’s Better Believe It (Rodeo) for earning his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) award. Now at only 10 months old, he is officially – U-CH Good Life’s Better Believe It, CGC! Good work, John & Rodeo!!
Congratulations to Good Life’s Believe in the American Dream (Bel) for her first AKC show, and for taking 1st place in the Miscellaneous Class.
Yeah! Willow is pregnant! We estimate her due date to be February 20th. See ultrasound pictures on the right . . .
The things we don’t do for our Leos! We can no longer include on that list “Drive through the worst blizzard in Virginia in decades”. 21 inches of snow fell, but the timing was right so . . .
Willow has just been bred to Starhaven’s All I Want for Christmas (Gulliver). Now we wait about a month for an ultrasound which will hopefully show a belly full of babies!
We are taking names for our waiting list for this litter. Interested parties should call us (248-881-0840) for further details, including the terms of our contract, cost of our puppies, and our deposit policy. But, future puppies owners should also expect to become part of our extended furry family! We take placing puppies as seriously as we take planning our breedings.
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear . . . Atlas, Wrigley, Shire, Winter, Diva, Kayla, Willow, Chewie, and Band-it! Happy third birthday to you! Continued health and happiness!
It’s official. We have decided for our C litter, the sire will be Starhaven’s All I Want for Christmas (Gulliver). We believe Gulliver embodies all the traits and qualities that will complement our Willow and result in fabulous puppies for some lucky leo families. Interested parties should call or email us for consideration.
A big congratulations goes out to the first (but certainly not the last) champion from our B litter.
Introducing: U-CH Good Life’s Better Believe It (Rodeo) With his first appearance in the United Kennel Club, over one weekend, four shows and four straight wins, John and Rodeo earned the coveted CH at not quite 7 months old. Congrats!
We just learned Willow is currently ranked the #1 Leonberger in the United Kennel Club! We will have to try to hold on to that ranking until the year is over. Yeah, Willow!
Another great day in the ring for Good Life Leonbergers. Bel got a huge ribbon for Reserve Best Baby Puppy in Show. Congrats Bel! Though it was clearly an exhausting day. . .
More great news, Willow again took Best of Breed at both shows today, an impressive win considering there were eight other Leonbergers competing. With these wins, Willow has completed both her UKC and the prized LCA championship.
Another video from John in Colorado with Winter and Rodeo . .
Puppies! We would like to annouce our intentions to breed Good Life’s Abracadabra in late 2009, with pups to go home early spring 2010. Interested parties should contact us directly for more information.
Willow’s back in the ring! Willow did really well today at a UKC show in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. She took Winner’s Female, and Best of Breed in both shows. She went on to take Group 2 placement in both shows.
Bel – Good Life’s Believe in the American Dream – the pup we are co-owning from our latest litter made her debut in the Baby Puppy ring. She does not compete for points, but is just getting used to everything. Based on what we saw today, watch out ring!
Watch this video of Winter (Good Life’s Autumn Wind) with her brand new baby (half) brother, Rodeo, (Good Life’s Better Believe It).
Bittersweet. That’s the best word to describe when pups go home. We love and adore them, but they are certainly a lot of work. We are also excited for all the people getting our babies. Two going to Colorado, one gets to play in the ocean in Virginia, and two staying here in Michigan.
We have 5 healthy puppies on the ground! All are doing well, gaining weight as anticipated. 3 Males and 2 Females. Stay tuned for pictures.
We did a pre-delivery xray and exam on Aja. Everything looks good, and we believe there are seven puppies due this weekend.
PUPPIES!! We confirmed Aja’s pregnancy via ultrasound today. We are so excited for the end of March.
Aja Marie and Maverick had their brief, though hopefully productive, love affair last weekend. We now anxiously await the middle of February when we can confirm that Aja is indeed pregnant via ultrasound. By calculating out, we know the pups would be born the end of March, and they would go home Memorial Weekend. Waiting is the hardest part!
Do you have the new Leonberger Health Foundation 2009 calendar? Are you looking at January right now? If so, then you are looking at a one in a million shot of Aja and her daughter, Willow. Since I am by no means an expert photographer, I must conclude it was luck! However, Aja and Willow can now add “cover girls” to their resumes.
UPCOMING LITTER CONFIRMED! We have decided to commit to a second litter with Aja Marie. Aja will be six this coming March, and her pups from the first litter are now two years old. Time has flown!
The stud we have chosen is a dog named Maverick. He was imported from Sweden, as was Aja’s mother, Udda. Maverick has been part of the show and obedience circuit and has done extremely well. And of course, he is absolutely gorgeous. See another picture of Maverick on “Our Puppies” and then click “B Litter.” That picture was taken the day he took Best of Breed at the Great Lakes Specialty show in 2008.
If you have interest in being on our waiting list for a puppy from Aja Marie and Maverick, please send us an email or call us directly.
Puppies would go to their new homes mid spring 2009.
A good friend of ours has officially started her own kennel, Rhythm Sighthounds. While Ibizan hounds are about as far away from Leonbergers, in terms of attitude and conformation, they are beautiful and graceful canines – check out her new site! www.freewebs.com/rhythmibizans
Today is the official opening day of our Sit Means Sit dog training location. We are the first such location in Michigan and love working with dogs all day long. Anyone who knows us knows that is where our passion lies. Check out sitmeanssit.com for some amazing dog training videos.
Acorn’s Eligible Bachelor, our own sweet Eros, has earned his TDI, Therapy Dog International designation.
Good Life’s Autumn Wind – aka Winter – took 2nd place out of 9 dogs in her huge class, 12-18 months puppy females at the LCA National Specialty Puppy Sweeps competition this past weekend. Here is what the judge had to say about Winter, “Very nice type and size. Correct proportions. Very nice feminine head. Very good neck and topline. Well set shoulder. Good angulation front and rear. Free mover with good reach. Nice temperament.” Yeah, Winter!
My sister-in-law adopted a St. Bernard/Leonberger mix puppy two days ago. To say this little girl, Iris, is cute is definitely the understatement of the year!
Our A Litter turned one year old today. It seems like yesterday we were waiting, waiting for those babies to give us a sign that they were coming. And now – they are all tipping the scales at a hundred pounds or more
Happy Turkey Day! Aja, Eros, and Willow definitely got their share of goodies today . . .
Happy Halloween from Good Life Leos! Eros is so secure in his manliness he thought nothing of being a French maid for Halloween. Willow decided on what we call, the Busy Bee outfit, and Aja, the cheerleader.
What a very exciting day – Nick and Aja took their very first BEST IN SHOW, at the Rare Heirs show in Medina, OH. WOW!
Well – Aja’s ultrasound today showed no puppies. Nick and I have been learning over the last few years how frustrating and hard breeding can be – today was another chapter in that book. We are disappointed and unsure what path we will go down from here. Stay tuned.
Aja completed the procedure for an artificial insemination today. Now we wait approximately three to four weeks to perform an ultrasound to see if there are any babies in there!
Aja is in heat again and will be bred early next week to Billy the Hund Pfaumenthal (Yoshka), isn’t he beautiful?? This is a current picture of Yoshka at 9 1/2 years old. See Our Puppies, Litter B for more information about this breeding.
We are updating our site! Yeah!
Aja gave birth to 9 healthy puppies today, two days after Thanksgiving and so much to be thankful for!
Aja is pregnant!!! Aja’s ultrasound showed at least six puppies due right around Thanksgiving — quite a lot to be thankful for!
We have now had several successful ties, and only time will tell if they have actually taken.
Aja has come into heat on 9/18 Monday and we are currently waiting for the right time to breed.
Will it be Love? During Aja’s next heat (which we expect to be September 2006), we will be breeding with Vanguard’s Absolute (Baxter). We spent hours going over pedigrees and seeking the opinions of other breeders that we respect in trying to come to a great decision on whom to have as the father of our girl’s first litter of puppies. The result of that search was Baxter. Having met Baxter, I feel confident saying he is quite the laid-back gentleman. He typifies the Leonberger wonderfully, and has some of the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen on a male Leo.
We will be breeding Aja to Vanguard’s Absolute (Baxter) in the fall. Look for more information to follow soon.
Welcome! Our new website is taking shape but is still under construction. Stop back often to see all the new photos and information that will be added in the coming weeks!
